Craig Watson

Lead Pastor

Pastor Craig Watson arrived at KFM in June 2009, after pastoring in the Detroit area for 18 years.  Craig and his wife, Diane, like the small city feel of Kalamazoo where you can enjoy all of the benefits of the city while being only minutes from the beautiful country surrounding it.  Both Craig and Diane grew up in small towns in northern Ohio – Craig, in Wellington (near Cleveland) and Diane in McComb (outside of Findlay).
Before becoming a pastor, Craig taught music in northeast Ohio and, after entering the ministry, continued to teach while pastoring smaller churches.  Moving to Westland, Michigan in the early nineties, Craig returned to teaching and pastoring for a time, receiving the City of Westland’s Teacher of the Year award in 2001.  For a short while, Craig also served as an elementary principal in Inkster before returning to full-time ministry in 2005.
Since arriving at Kalamazoo Free Methodist Church in 2009, Pastor Craig has led the church toward a new vision of being God’s messengers of hope and love in the community.  In the past year, he has also led the church in a total recalibration process that has defined the church’s vision, refined the focus on “radiating love, hope and new life in Christ,” and inspired the congregation to become light to Kalamazoo and beyond.  As a teacher, Pastor Craig’s messages are Biblically-based, easy to understand, and applicable to daily life.  Whether on a Sunday morning or in a small group study, his style is warm and relatable.
Pastor Craig’s door is always open and he invites you to stop by and get acquainted.  He also hopes you will decide to come and join us on Sunday mornings for worship and fellowship.

Gary Goodsell

Associate Pastor

Gary is an Associate Pastor and Technology Team Leader for KFM. He is an Elder in the Southern Michigan Conference of the Free Methodist Church of the USA. He serves in a part-time volunteer role as an assistant pastor at KFM.

Gary has a BSBA in Management Information Systems from the University of Arizona (1987). He has held many management and non-management positions in my work life. He was in Army ROTC in college and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant (2LT) in the Army National Guard, Corps of Engineers. After graduating from the University of Arizona, he went to Ft. Belvoir, VA, and studied Military Engineering for a few months at EOBC. He has also studied at Ft. Leonard Wood at the Army Engineer Advanced Course. The Army was Gary’s primary career for 16½ years after college. He retired from the Army as a Major in the Corps of Engineers and stationed full-time as the Facility Engineer for Camp Butner, North Carolina.

In Gary’s civilian work, he started out as a Programmer-Analyst after graduating from US Army Engineer Officer Basic Course at Ft. Belvoir. He continued in computer systems management and ended up his computer career as a Systems Manager for a US District Court.

His next career choice, while still in the Army National Guard, was to become a volunteer Firefighter. He loved it so much that he trained and worked very hard and became a Firefighter for a large city department in North Carolina. Unfortunately, his career there was cut
short after an on-the-job accident. Gary retired on disability from firefighting in 1999 and from the Army National Guard in 2001.

Since coming to KFM a few years ago, Gary started the preparation to become an ordained elder in the Free Methodist Church. Gary complete the requirements for and was ordained on June 19th, 2015.
