Craig Watson
Lead Pastor
Pastor Craig Watson arrived at KFM in June 2009, after pastoring in the Detroit area for 18 years. Craig and his wife, Diane, like the small city feel of Kalamazoo where you can enjoy all of the benefits of the city while being only minutes from the beautiful country surrounding it. Both Craig and Diane grew up in small towns in northern Ohio – Craig, in Wellington (near Cleveland) and Diane in McComb (outside of Findlay).
Before becoming a pastor, Craig taught music in northeast Ohio and, after entering the ministry, continued to teach while pastoring smaller churches. Moving to Westland, Michigan in the early nineties, Craig returned to teaching and pastoring for a time, receiving the City of Westland’s Teacher of the Year award in 2001. For a short while, Craig also served as an elementary principal in Inkster before returning to full-time ministry in 2005.
Since arriving at Kalamazoo Free Methodist Church in 2009, Pastor Craig has led the church toward a new vision of being God’s messengers of hope and love in the community. In the past year, he has also led the church in a total recalibration process that has defined the church’s vision, refined the focus on “radiating love, hope and new life in Christ,” and inspired the congregation to become light to Kalamazoo and beyond. As a teacher, Pastor Craig’s messages are Biblically-based, easy to understand, and applicable to daily life. Whether on a Sunday morning or in a small group study, his style is warm and relatable.
Pastor Craig’s door is always open and he invites you to stop by and get acquainted. He also hopes you will decide to come and join us on Sunday mornings for worship and fellowship.
